The Sock Story
Socks are typically thought of as an item of clothing worn on our feet for comfort, style and, most often, warmth! Derived from the Latin word soccus, a loose-fitting slipper worn by Roman comic actors, the 12th century sock was made from cotton, found in Egypt and knitted from the toe up towards the leg with the heel inserted last. In 12th century Egypt, this allowed the heel to be easily replaced when it wore out. Wikipedia 2010, the free encyclopedia
This season SuriPaco introduced a light hiker and a crew sock both in heathered brown and charcoal. The socks – a combination of un- dyed domestic alpaca from U.S. farms and washable merino – are “machine wash friendly”. The yarn for our socks is spun at an old family mill in Springvale, Maine. The socks are knitted in North Carolina. Try one pair or better yet think about a number of pairs to supply each family member with a cozy yet durable gift.
