Suri Paco

Crew Socks

Are you just waiting for the perfect pair of “dressy” socks for those cold winter concerts in downtown Portland, Maine? Try SuriPaco’s newest domestically produced, un-dyed alpaca and washable merino blend. This “classy” sock is available in two heathered colors and makes an ideal gift for family and friends.

The Sock Story

Socks are typically thought of as an item of clothing worn on our feet for comfort, style and, most often, warmth! Derived from the Latin word soccus, a loose-fitting slipper worn by Roman comic actors, the 12th century sock in the picture was made from cotton, found in Egypt and knitted from the toe up towards the leg with the heel inserted last. In 12th century Egypt, this allowed the heel to be easily replaced when it wore out. Wikipedia 2010, the free encyclopedia

This season, SuriPaco is introducing light hikers and a crew sock in a heathered brown and charcoal. The socks – made from un-dyed domestic alpaca from U.S. farms – have been combined with a washable merino to be “machine wash friendly”. Our own small contribution to “economic recovery” is that we can say with great pride that the yarn for our socks is spun at an old family mill in Springvale, Maine and knitted in North Carolina. Try one pair or better yet think about a number of pairs to supply each family member with a cozy yet durable gift.
